DeFrame 1&2

Wood, Styrofoam, paint, dimensions variable, 2006
Smack Mellon NY and aquaspace, Savannah, GA

DeFrame is a site-specific installation that spreads within the architecture of the space it occupies, (aquaspace; Savannah, GA in DeFrame 1, and Smack Mellon; Brooklyn, NY in DeFrame 2), addressing and engaging with its nuances, defects, and mismatches.

This piece explores the tension between the second and third dimensions. It formally redefines the traditional role of ‘frames’ by deconstructing them and resetting them in a manner that allows them to explore 2D as well as 3D space.
