This installation sought to explore and question the infinite scope of real and abstract spaces by navigating the space of my surroundings. Surroundings in this context implied my immediate environment in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia where I then resided, and the environment of New Delhi, India where I grew up. Through the use of a formal language, I created a link and connection between my immediate environment and one that is distant. By employing the shapes, spaces, and acoustics of my surroundings in Savannah as a starting point, I created a series of collages that were in a quiet dialogue with the ambiance and architecture of Gallery Nature Morte, and later, the Atlanta Contemporary. The oddity of the shapes, forms, and textures of the installation initially seemed to rebel against the physical space they occupied, but on second glance they peacefully and playfully fit in. In the process of navigating from site to site and interior to exterior, the work questioned and brought to attention the quirks and subtleties of this journey and conversations of my spaces.
